Professor Xia Lijun gave an academic lecture for Accounting Department

Invited by Accounting Department of Business School, Professor Xia Lijun from Shanghai Jiao Tong University gave an academic lecture in the afternoon on November 14, 2013 in room 429, Ningyuan building. Faculty members, PhD students, graduate and undergraduate students of accounting department attended the lecture.

Professor Xia Lijun serves as professor, PhD student supervisor and chairman of Accounting Department at Antai School of Economics & Management, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and has long committed to the study of accounting, auditing, corporate governance and public governance issues of China's capital market. He has a lot of academic achievement, and has published many papers in domestic and international top tier journals, such as Journal of Accounting and Economics etc.

Professor Xia Lijun reported his recent paper ” Institutional Investments in Chinese Capital Market” this time. This paper mainly concerns the impact of corporate governance on institutional investors. Professor Xia Lijun pointed out in this paper that the quality of corporate governance of Chinese listed companies will directly affect the investment choices of foreign investors. At the same time, how investors understand the company will also affects the investment options. The paper shows that the foreign investors’ investment strategies focusing on corporate governance earns a higher return. In the lecture, faculty members and the students of accounting department and finance department had a lively discussion, and also made some comments.
