Joint Academic Forum for Doctoral Students Held by UIBE Business School of UIBE and Business School of Central University of Finance and Economics
On the afternoon of June 11, 2025, the 4th session of the "UIBE Excellent Series Doctoral Academic Forum" was successfully concluded in the Lecture Hall on the 3rd Floor of Qiu Zhen Building. The forum was co-hosted by the UIBEBS, Business School of Central University of Finance and Economics (CUFE), Graduate School of UIBE, and Department of Graduate Student Affairs of the Party Committee of UIBE. With the theme of "Academic Mutual Learning and Innovation Leadership", the forum focused on cutting-edge topics such as supply chain digitalization, artificial intelligence application, and overseas strategies for digital cultural products. Through paper presentations, expert comments, and training experience sharing, it built an academic platform for in-depth exchanges between doctoral students of the two universities, demonstrating the collaborative innovation practice of both sides in the field of high-level talent cultivation.
Opening speech: jointly building a new environment for inter-university academic exchanges
The forum was co-chaired by Professor Zhu Jigao, Vice Dean of the UIBE Business School of UIBE, and Professor Liu Xiaoyuan, Vice Dean of the Business School of CUFE. In his opening remarks, Vice Dean Zhu Jigao pointed out that the forum is an innovative measure of the school to improve the quality of doctoral training. He hoped that the forum would promote doctoral students to make a leap from "knowledge absorption" to "knowledge creation", and broaden the research horizons and enhance academic innovation of doctoral students from both schools.
Professor Xing Xiaoqiang, Dean of the UIBE Business School of UIBE, delivered a speech on behalf of the school. Dean Xing first extended a warm welcome to the participating experts and all students. He emphasized that academic exchange is the core driving force for inspiring innovative ideas. He specifically mentioned: "The two universities have their own characteristics in the layout and construction of the business administration discipline. This forum is not only a display of paper achievements, but also an academic exchange and mutual learning. We look forward to forming a regular cooperation mechanism in doctoral training, academic research and other fields in the future."
Professor Lin Song, Dean of the Business School of CUFE, focused on the challenges and growth of academic research, pointing out: "Doctoral training faces practical problems such as difficulty in publication and innovation, but the ideological collision through inter-university forums can help students break through cognitive boundaries. The Business School of CUFE has always adhered to the training concept of practice orientation and quality first, and is willing to explore new paradigms of doctoral talent training together with UIBE.
Li Yan, Vice Dean of the Graduate School of UIBE, stated that the forum has the distinct characteristics of "high starting point and emphasis on practical results". He emphasized that inter-university exchanges help doctoral students "identify gaps and gain motivation", which has important demonstration value for doctoral talent training. He proposed that in the future, efforts will be made to build the forum into a key platform for "the construction of an independent knowledge system", encouraging students to conduct academic research based on China's practical problems.
Paper presentations and comments: in-depth discussions on cutting-edge topics
A total of 4 doctoral students from the two universities gave academic paper presentations at the joint academic forum, demonstrating solid research capabilities. Four young and middle-aged scholars commented on the papers, and both sides conducted in-depth discussions on cutting-edge academic topics in the fields of supply chain digitalization, trade credit insurance, artificial intelligence application, and overseas strategies for digital cultural products.
Sun Wanlin, a doctoral student from theUIBE Business School, delivered a presentation titled How Does Supply Chain Digitalization Affect Corporate Carbon Emission Intensity. Based on data from Chinese listed companies, her empirical study found that supply chain digitalization can promote a decrease in carbon emission intensity of pilot enterprises through internal innovation empowerment and external information supervision mechanisms, and the mechanisms have a synergistic effect. Professor Yan Nina from the Business School of CUFE commented: "It is necessary to further distinguish the differences in digital penetration across industries and explore the spillover effect of carbon emissions in the upstream and downstream of the supply chain." Professor Liu Xiaoyuan from the Business School of CUFE pointed out that further consideration should be given to how the company's own digitalization level and management characteristics affect the implementation effect of supply chain digitalization.
Zhong Hechen, a doctoral student from the Business School of CUFE, reported on The Insurer Selection Strategy of Trade Credit Insurance in Reverse Factoring. Through a three-party game model, he proved that when the manufacturer's initial capital level is low, taking out insurance by the factor is more likely to achieve a win-win situation for the three parties in the supply chain. Professor Shao Jing from the UIBE Business School pointed out: "The study needs to supplement the practical support for the model setting of insurance decision-making rights and clarify the conclusions of equilibrium decisions under different conditions."
Guo Jiahui, a doctoral student from UIBE, proposed in AI Application Strategy Orientation and Technological Breakthrough Path: "Endogenously driven AI applications can simultaneously promote enterprise-level technological breakthroughs and industry-leading innovations, while the effect of environment-driven applications is short-term." Associate Professor Yu Xiaodong from CUFE suggested: "Strengthen the theoretical demonstration process of hypotheses, and conduct more in-depth analysis and testing on mechanism analysis and heterogeneity treatment."
Lin Yanan, a doctoral student from CUFE, delivered a presentation titled Adaptive Strategy and Overseas Market Performance of Digital Cultural Products. Using data from the WebNovel platform to build a model, she found that the localized adaptation of product names and differentiated innovation of content can form a synergistic effect. Assistant Professor Luo Xiaopeng from UIBE emphasized in his comment: "The paper has strong innovation in theoretical selection, research methods, and variable measurement, and can be further strengthened in aspects such as endogeneity testing."
Professor Liu Xiaoyuan, Vice Dean of the Business School of CUFE, chaired the second part of the forum. He first invited Associate Professor Dou Chao from CUFE to give a thematic sharing on "High-level Academic Publication and Doctoral Growth". Then, in the "Face-to-face with Journal Editor-in-Chief" session, Liu Jianli, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Economic Management, was invited to speak.
Training experience sharing: supporting academic growth
Associate Professor Dou Chao from the Business School of CUFE gave a sharing themed "High-level Academic Publication and Doctoral Growth". He introduced that doctoral academic growth needs to build around five core capabilities, including establishing a two-way interaction model of "active consultation and independent decision-making"; seizing the opportunity of academic conferences to expand cooperation networks; building a "dual circulation" research model based on China's management practices, linking policy trends to capture practical issues; mastering cutting-edge methods and tools to break through the limitations of traditional econometrics; and promoting interdisciplinary integration, focusing on interdisciplinary research, and spawning disruptive innovations through interdisciplinary dialogue.
Face-to-face with journal editor-in-chief: insights into academic norms and publication strategies
Professor Liu Jianli, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Economic Management, pointed out that the journal is committed to building China's local management theory in the field of business administration. She called on researchers to pay attention to major Chinese theoretical and practical issues such as dual circulation and digital transformation, and encouraged the use of emerging methods such as machine learning to promote interdisciplinary research. At the same time, she emphasized that topics should be novel and interesting, focusing on logic and expression norms, and eliminating data tampering, multiple submissions of the same manuscript and other behaviors to jointly maintain a good academic ecology and conduct high-quality academic research.
Summary and outlook: long-term mechanism for deepening inter-university cooperation
Professor Liu Xiaoyuan, Vice Dean of the Business School of CUFE, said: "Taking this forum as a starting point, the business schools of the two universities will deepen cooperation in joint training programs and the construction of inter-university supervisor teams, and jointly cultivate high-level research talents with global vision and innovative capabilities."
The successful holding of this forum not only strengthened the collaborative innovation between the two universities in the field of doctoral education, but also built an inter-university academic network for doctoral students. In the future, the "UIBE Excellent Series Doctoral Academic Forum" will continue to focus on academic frontiers and promote the output of more research results with both theoretical innovation and practical value.
