Introduction to the Undergraduate Programme
UIBE Business School established in 1982.It has laid a solid foundation in teaching and scientific research after over 30 years’ evolution. To help local enterprises to go global and be prepared for international competition is our ultimate statement. We have achieved a considerable achievement in cultivating versatile talents of international vision, scientific research, new business model development and providing consulting service. It always applies the latest theories and teaching methods for the benefit of its long-term development.
Undergraduate education of Business School contains five traditional majors, including business administration, human resource management, accounting, financial management and one Sino-France joint training programme. There are over 1300 undergraduates who are all elite candidates of the College Entrance Examination studying in the business school at present. Since 2008, the lowest entry score of UIBE Business School has maintained to be the top 10 nationwide.
Our school attaches great importance to the undergraduate education. Pivotal research center, internship base, virtual simulation platform, national key-university-support infrastructure and other facilities all make up the distinctive hardware for supporting student training.
“Root in China, Embrace the world, Practice What You Learn” is the motto of UIBE Business School. “Root in China” indicates that teaching should not neglect China’s national condition and Chinese enterprises’ status quo so that a local teaching system meeting the domestic talent market needs can be built. “Embrace the World” shows that the school is open-minded for progressed foreign education system and teaching method and enthusiastic about communication with the outside world. “Practice What You Learn” displays that the school encourage the students to go out of campus to experience the real business world and apply what they learn to practice. The three points all serve the ultimate goal of cultivating far-sighted, competent professional manager.
To carry out the motto,a series of teaching trial and reform have been conducted to optimize teaching impact. Western classic theories and local effective operations collaborate in teaching activity and yield rewarding result. From 2012 to 2014, Business School has rolled out the design of Curriculum Quality Control System, working out specific learning targets for guiding students’ study, detailed assessment standards for each course, and optimizing the curriculum. Starting-new-business education, innovation education and public general education are newly included in the system.
In addition, courses like “starting-business management”, “innovative idea and design”, “the basis of starting a new business”, “starting business in the globe” are opened for the first time aiming to prepare students who wants to set their own business in the future. “Class out of classroom”, “guest teacher” and internship base construction provide students with vast opportunities to talk to business veterans, train themselves in real court and get firs-hand information. Up to now, we have 9 internship bases in Nestle, Deloitte, Cargill, Beijing Auto and other companies.
Three decades witness the glorious developing history of UIBE Business School. Recent record displays in 2013, our undergraduate students have harvested 41 national awards and 8 ministerial awards; several graduates of 2013 have received offers from MIT, The University of Duke, London Business School and other world’s top universities. In 2014,the employment of graduates of 2014 is above 90%, and each graduate received at least 2 offers in average. Our graduates widely disperse in prestigious financial services, consulting firms, inter-national corporations, large state-own companies, government departments and research institutions. And the employers are generally impressed by our graduates’ professional competence, dedication and teamwork spirit.
Subjects for Undergraduate Students
Introduction to the International Undergraduate Program (IUP)
Undergraduate study programme for international students include subjects delivered in English and those in Chinese. The former are business administration, marketing and accounting, and the latter are business administration and marketing. The school determines to provide international students with sufficient knowledge in business administration, to cultivate their international awareness, release their creativity and train them into professional personnel with excellent marketing, accounting and managerial skills.
The programme follows an internationalization-oriented education scheme with a scientific and innovative course design. Theoretical study, case study, class discussion, field training, internship and business research are all indispensable components in consolidating students’ foundation of knowledge and ability to practice.
Attracted by the pogramme’s advanced teaching philosophy and sensible on and out of class education design, students from countries of Asia, Africa, Europe and Americas have chosen UIBE Business School and its undergraduate study programme exclusively set for international students.
UIBE offers International Undergraduate Programs (IUP) leading to bachelor degrees in Economics, Management, Law and Arts in several majors including Economics, International Trade, Finance, Business Administration, Marketing, Accounting and East Asian Studies. These programs are designed to provide students with an opportunity to study general education courses and explore an academic field in depth.
IUP students who have completed two years general education at School of International Education (SIE) will enter Business School based on their major selection. The 3rd and 4th year IUP curriculum at Business School is designed to provide IUP students the knowledge in Business Administration and Marketing field with global perspective. Each student in this program at Business School is required to complete 36 credits of compulsory courses, 18 credits of elective courses, 8 credits of internship (internship and report) and 4 credits of degree thesis during two academic years.
Leading to bachelor degree, Business Administration major of IUP aims at cultivating students’ variety of skills, accomplishments, and aspirations. With a dynamic environment that mirrors the breadth and depth of the world economy, with a professional faculty team who bring the leading knowledge and experience that students need to become a leader in business, with a systematic curriculum emphasizing on business administration related courses, this major will enable IUP students the ability of challenging economic and social issues with potentiality in their future career life.
This major keeps the latest concepts and ideas in management education by constantly updating and improving its curriculum and teaching approach. It will also provide the systematic theories and scientific training for students. Throughout our facilities and courses, students will learn valuable skills through teamwork, activities, seminars, and research. Business Administration major students will be equipped with the basic knowledge in management, accounting, operation, human resource etc., making students to be competent at the positions in organizing company’s management structure, human resource setting, and operations management.

Leading to bachelor degree, Marketing major of IUP aims at cultivating students’ global vision and innovative spirit, preparing students with foresight, competencies, and excellent skills to perform effectively and competitively in handling marketing problems. With combination of Chinese background and international development trends, combination of theoretical study and practice, and combination of empirical research and case studies, this major will equip students with the abundant knowledge in marketing, international management etc., which will help promote students’ competency in business research, business planning, and marketing developing in companies.
With a systematic curriculum emphasizing on marketing related courses and experienced professors in marketing theory, service marketing, sales & channel marketing etc., this major will provide students with both theories and practical case study analysis throughout their major study. Students’ independent learning and innovation ability will be cultivated; meanwhile, students’ capability in applying the theories to solving the practical marketing problems in companies will also be further developed.
