Notice on the Selection for the Exchange Program with Meiji University (Japan) for the Spring 2026 Semester

Dear Students,

In accordance with the application schedule for overseas exchange programs, our school has launched the selection for the Spring 2026 Exchange Program with Meiji University (Japan) (tuition-free). Students interested in applying are requested to carefully read the program guidelines, selection procedures and requirements, and make preparations based on their personal training plans.
Due to Meiji University’s earlier original application deadline, we have coordinated with the university to extend the deadline. Please submit your application on time in accordance with the school’s latest notice (see details below). Other overseas exchange programs of the university and school for the Spring 2026 Semester will be announced separately in the near future.

1. Basic Eligibility Criteria
Regular Enrolled Students
Must be at least 18 years old.
During the exchange period, applicants must be: second-year or above undergraduate students; academic postgraduates, MBA, MPAcc, or MAud students.
Good Conduct
Abide by laws and regulations, maintain good performance in all aspects during enrollment at our university, and have no disciplinary records.
Physical and Mental Health
Possess good communication skills, independent living abilities, and strong adaptability to new environments.
Academic Performance
Maintain excellent academic records with a GPA of no less than 3.0 or an average score of no less than 80.
Language Proficiency
Meet the language requirements for admission to the host institution and the visa requirements of the host country.
Study Plan Alignment
The overseas study plan must conform to the applicant’s personal training program, and courses between the two institutions must be well transferable without affecting the academic arrangement at our university.
Clear Academic Goals
Have basic knowledge of the host institution and its located country/region, with clear learning directions and personal academic plans.
Financial Capacity
Personal or family financial conditions must be able to cover all expenses incurred during the overseas stay.
Guardian Consent
Parents or legal guardians must understand the program details and consent to and support the application.

11:00 a.m., September 22, 2025

3. Program Information
About Meiji University: Founded in 1881, Meiji University is one of Japan’s top private universities, located in Tokyo. Its Faculty of Commerce and Business Administration boasts strong faculty, leading research capabilities, and close connections with enterprises and the business community.
Exchange Program Details:
Quota: 3 students
Duration: 1 semester
Language Requirements: TOEFL score of 80+; or IELTS score of 6.0+; or Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) N4 or above.

4. Selection and Dispatch Process
Application SubmissionApplicants must send the application materials (scanned PDF files) to the school’s email address: international_bs@uibe.edu.cn before 11:00 a.m. on September 22.
Required materials (combine into one color PDF in order, ensuring clarity and completeness, with a file size no larger than 2MB):
① UIBE Overseas Exchange Program Application Form (signed by family members)

② Copies of official academic transcripts (both Chinese and English versions, with average score or GPA indicated)
③ Proof of language proficiency (copies of CET-4/CET-6 certificates, TOEFL/IELTS scores, or relevant foreign language certificates)
④ Personal statement (both Chinese and English versions, including personal information, understanding of the host institution, and exchange plans and goals)
School SelectionThe school will conduct internal selection for applicants and publicly announce the list of selected students.
Application to Meiji University and Follow-Up Procedures
By the end of September: The school will nominate exchange students to Meiji University. Students must submit application materials as required by Meiji University. The final admission decision rests with Meiji University.
October-December: Students shall handle visa applications and other procedures independently; the school will assist in providing relevant materials.

5. Scholarship Information
University-Level FundingIn accordance with the UIBE Funding Management Measures for Student Overseas Exchange Programs, eligible full-time Chinese students can apply for university funding for overseas exchange programs. Approved applicants may receive a grant of RMB 20,000. Postgraduates can also apply for the Joint Training Program Fund of the Graduate School.
School-Level FundingSchool-level funding shall be implemented in accordance with the Measures for the Management of International Exchange of Students of the Business School.
Chinese undergraduate students and full-time postgraduates who complete the exchange program with qualified academic performance can receive a standard grant of RMB 15,000 per person.
Students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds can apply for additional funding.
Students who have received national or university-level funding are not eligible for duplicate school-level funding.

6. Supplementary Notes
Course Selection, Credit and Grade RecognitionConsult the academic affairs office of the International Business School and the university’s undergraduate/graduate academic affairs department for relevant procedures, and follow the regulations of the undergraduate/graduate academic affairs department.
Passport Preparation
Apply for a passport as soon as possible. Students without a passport must submit a passport application to the exit-entry administration within this week and fill in "In Processing" in the passport number field.
Students with an existing passport must check its validity (most countries require the passport to be valid for at least 6 months after the end of the program).
Language Proficiency RequirementDo not submit an application if you have not obtained the required language proficiency certificate or your language score does not meet the standards of the host institution/visa requirements.
Accommodation ArrangementSome host institutions do not provide dormitories. Please check the host institution’s official website in advance to inquire about housing information.
Application Commitment
Carefully understand the program details, consider personal circumstances comprehensively, and make a prudent decision before submitting the application.
Once nominated, applicants shall not withdraw without valid reasons (e.g., schedule conflicts, parental disapproval, or no dormitory provided by the host institution). Those who withdraw without reason will be disqualified from applying for other overseas exchange programs of the university.
Senior students (fourth-year undergraduates/second-year postgraduates) must consider their personal circumstances carefully when applying for short-term exchange programs. Participation may affect job hunting, thesis writing, and thesis defense due to the exchange semester schedule.
