Cases Submitted by the Business School Win Multiple Honors at the 9th Ram Charan Management Practice Award 2025
Recently, Harvard Business Review China officially announced the winners of the 9th Ram Charan Management Practice Award 2025. With its outstanding achievements in enterprise management innovation and sustainable development research, UIBE Business School saw multiple submitted cases stand out among numerous participants and won three awards in one fell swoop. These honors not only affirm the quality of the school’s case teaching and research but also highlight the benchmark value of Chinese enterprises in addressing global challenges and achieving innovative development. The cases submitted by Business School cover three cutting-edge fields: semiconductor equipment, bionic robots, and international green development, winning the following awards respectively:
Distinguished Award of Management Practice Award: Case of Surui Intelligent Semiconductor Equipment Co., Ltd. – "A Trailblazer Breaking the Deadlock Amid Supply Chain Disruptions"
Innovation and Entrepreneurship Practice Award: Case of Beijing Daqi Yuequan Bionic Technology Co., Ltd. – "Building an Innovation Ecosystem for Bionic Robots: From Basic Theory to Industrialization Path"
Global Enterprise Practice Award: Case of PowerChina Laos Co., Ltd. – "Green Innovation-Driven International Practice: The Sustainable Development Path of PowerChina Laos Co., Ltd."
1. Surui Intelligent: A "Trailblazer" Filling Industrial Gaps
Amid the "supply chain disruption crisis", Surui Intelligent successfully completed the "dual transformation" of ALD (Atomic Layer Deposition) equipment, realizing the leap from a research-oriented model to industrial mass production, and extended its business to the core links of semiconductors, building an independently controllable product system. In particular, the successful delivery of China’s first high-energy ion implanter has filled a long-standing industrial gap, marking a solid step forward for China in the field of key semiconductor equipment and demonstrating significant value in management practice.
2. PowerChina Laos Co., Ltd.: A Model of Green Innovation-Driven Internationalization
Centering on "green innovation", PowerChina Laos Co., Ltd. successfully transformed its role from a traditional EPC contractor to a "leader in green development". The cross-border power transmission breakthrough of its Mengsong Wind Power Project has provided a feasible path for regional energy interconnection; the Nam Ou Hydropower Project has deeply integrated economic benefits with social responsibilities through ecological restoration and community development. The integrated model of "green innovation, international financing, cross-border cooperation, and localized management" explored by the company has set a benchmark for enterprises in countries along the "Belt and Road" to achieve globalization and sustainable development.
3. Yuequan Bionic: Building an Innovation Ecosystem for Bionic Robots
With the "bionic tension-compression body robot theory and technology" as the core, Yuequan Bionic has successfully developed benchmark products such as the Y-Hand M1, achieving synergistic improvement in multiple dimensions including strength, speed, and precision. This has set a new performance benchmark in the field of bionic dexterous hands and broken technical bottlenecks in the robotics field. Meanwhile, the enterprise has innovatively created a "industry-university-research collaboration" management model, efficiently integrating the scientific research strength of Jilin University with industrial resources, and establishing a full-chain mechanism from basic theory to industrial application. Its innovation and entrepreneurship practice provides valuable reference for the high-end equipment manufacturing industry.
The Ram Charan Management Practice Award, jointly initiated by Harvard Business Review China and management guru Mr. Ram Charan in 2017, has become the highest honor in the field of Chinese enterprise management practice. Adhering to the non-profit principle, the award is judged by a panel of renowned professors and scholars from top Chinese business schools, aiming to recognize the most innovative and replicable Chinese enterprise management practices.
With its profound accumulation in case teaching and research, as well as in-depth understanding of enterprise practice, Business School also won the "Bole Award" at this year’s event. This honor fully affirms the school’s outstanding contribution to promoting the deep integration of management innovation and enterprise practice.
