Dialogue on the Future of Science and Technology, Promote Civilization Exchanges and Mutual Learning – The "Innovation for the Future" Popular Science Salon Successfully Held

On the afternoon of October 23, 2025, the Chinese and foreign youth science and technology cultural exchange event – the "Innovation for the Future" Popular Science Salon, co-hosted by UIBE Business School and Beijing Chaoyang International Science and Technology Innovation Service Co., Ltd., was successfully held at the East Lake International Center in Chaoyang District, Beijing. Professor Yang Zhenning, Vice Dean of UIBE Business School, led some teachers and students of the school to participate in the event. The event aimed to build an open and inclusive dialogue platform for Chinese and foreign youth, jointly explore the frontiers of science and technology through in-depth exchanges and ideological collisions, promote cross-cultural understanding, and contribute youth power to building a community with a shared future for mankind.

The event kicked off with participating guests and representatives of Chinese and foreign youth visiting the Agglomeration Area of International Science and Technology Organization Headquarters. The cutting-edge sci-tech application scenarios and international atmosphere ignited the enthusiasm for on-site exchanges.

At the opening ceremony, Mr. Lu Xiaopeng from Beijing Chaoyang International Science and Technology Innovation Service Co., Ltd. extended a warm welcome to the arrival of Chinese and foreign youth in his speech. He introduced the functions of the Association for Science and Technology as the "Home of Scientific and Technological Workers", and specifically mentioned the "Youth Support Program" that supports young scientific and technological talents. He encouraged young people to dare to break boundaries and embrace ideological collisions, and vividly took the penhold and shakehand grips in table tennis as an example to elaborate on the complementary value of different ways of thinking and innovation paths between China and the West, sending a message to the youth that "life has no limits; the bigger your heart is, the bigger the world is".

In his speech, Professor Yang Zhenning, Vice Dean of Business School, focused on introducing the school’s philosophy and practices regarding the concepts of "internationalization-led, digital-intelligent driven, industry-teaching-research collaboration, and service-oriented support". He stated that he looks forward to deepening cooperation with the Agglomeration Area of International Science and Technology Organization Headquarters, jointly building platforms for student internships, research projects, case development, etc., and promoting the establishment of new mechanisms for cooperation and exchanges between Chinese and foreign youth.

In the keynote sharing session, many experts and scholars brought wonderful content. Associate Researcher Wang Peng from the Beijing Academy of Social Sciences systematically elaborated on the definition, characteristics and development paths of "future industries" with "future industries" as the core. He proposed that future industries have the characteristics of "long cycle, great potential, large investment and high risk", and emphasized the crucial importance of independent innovation and strategic patience by combining positive cases such as new energy vehicles with the historical lessons of lithography machine development. He also shared his experiences and insights on balancing personal interests with work, individual efforts with team collaboration, and tracking hot topics with basic research based on his own scientific research experience. A representative from the World Green Design Organization systematically explained the concept of green design. She pointed out that green design is a creative activity considering the whole life cycle of products, and is committed to leading the green transformation of production methods, consumption patterns and lifestyles. She detailed the organization’s work in promoting the formulation of international standards, holding a series of international forums, setting up awards, and facilitating the transformation of green technologies and green financial support, and warmly invited young people to join volunteer and internship programs to contribute to global sustainable development together. Associate Researcher Xie Yan from the Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences shared an ambitious international scientific plan – building a "Community with a Shared Future for Mankind with Ecological Security". Taking the severe data of the global ecological crisis as an introduction, she emphasized that a single discipline can no longer cope with current challenges, and it is necessary to promote large-scale collaboration among all higher education and research institutions and all disciplines around the world. She called on the young people from various countries present to become "ambassadors" of the plan, internalizing this concept and practice in their hearts and externalizing it in their actions.

The highlight of the event was the unique themed ceremony session of "Light Up the Heart of Science, Illuminate the Future of Humanity". Under the guidance of the host, youth representatives from more than ten countries around the world, including China, Afghanistan, Italy, Spain, Morocco, etc., attached leaves with their names, countries and schools to the "Tree of Science", symbolizing the convergence of youth power from all countries. Afterwards, everyone lit up the star lights in their hands and made a promise in unison. The starlight and the oath blended together, demonstrating the common determination of young people around the world to join hands to protect the Earth home with science.

After the ceremony, the event entered a relaxed and pleasant exchange session. Chinese and foreign youth tasted Chinese refreshments, experienced calligraphy art, and deepened their friendship in the charm of brush and ink. Meanwhile, the event also set up a career consulting corner for "International Organization Career Planning". Relevant person in charge provided one-on-one career consulting and planning guidance for young students aspiring to develop in international organizations, pointing out the direction for their future career development paths. The salon came to a successful conclusion in a warm and harmonious atmosphere, sowing the seeds of friendship and hope for future scientific and technological cooperation and cultural exchanges and mutual learning between Chinese and foreign youth.
