Business School Received EQUIS Re-accreditation for 5 Another Years

On October 12th, 2023, Business School of the University of International Business and Economics (UIBEBS) received the formal notification from EFMD (European Foundation for Management Development) that:

“Following a rigorous and comprehensive assessment of a new five-year period, EFMD officially informs that UIBE Business School has once again been re-accredited to the highest standards of the European Quality Improvement System (EQUIS) for a further period of 5 years.”

This is the second time UIBEBS has been re-accredited for a five-year period, following the initial EQUIS accreditation in 2014 and first EQUIS re-accreditation in 2017.

As one of the most influential business education accreditation in the world, EQUIS has a rigorous evaluation process and a high standard evaluation system, and the five-year period accreditation is the highest evaluation of a business school accredited by EQUIS. Continuing to pass this highest level of international accreditation is a high degree of recognition and affirmation for UIBEBS, and is also an important sign that UIBEBS have reached international leading standards.

The peer review visit was hold online from May 30th to June 2nd, 2023 due to the influence of the previous pandemic. Zhongxiu Zhao, President of the University of International Business and Economics, Jingbo Wang, Vice President, Xiaomeng Li, Director of the Department of International Relations (UIBE), and Professor Michael J. Page, former Vice President of Bentley University in the United States, Professor Mats Benner, Dean of the School of Economics and Management of Lund University in Sweden, Professor Stephen Brammer, Dean of the School of Management of the University of Bath in the UK, and Mr. Anton van Rossum, former senior partner of McKinsey, made an in-depth exchange of talks altogether. The PRT consequently managed online interviews with the UIBEBS management team, project management team, key functional leaders, representatives of faculties and students, alumni, employers and corporate partners, and conducted a comprehensive review of the school's development strategy and objectives, teaching programmes, faculty quality, student development, academic research, social contribution, corporate relations and internationalisation.

The PRT made a high evaluation of the development achievements of the business school in the past few years. At the same time, the PRT also provided valuable advice for the continuous improvement of the School in light of international business education trends.

Participating in international accreditations is an important step in the internationalisation strategy of UIBEBS. Since 2012 when UIBEBS became the membership of EFMD, the School has continuously optimised the existing management system against the EQUIS standard to achieve continuous improvement. The successful five-year re-accreditation of EQUIS is the recognition of the UIBEBS achievements in recent years. In the future, the School will continue to enhance its international competency and impact in accordance with the leading standards of world-class business schools.

The achievement of 5-year EQUIS accreditation is closely benefited from the support of the leaders of the University, the help of valued friends from industries, and the efforts the alumni and all the faculty, staff and students have made in the past five years. The School wishes to extend the most sincere thanks and highest respect to all of you!
