Biography:

 

 

Professor Mao holds a Ph.D in MIS from the University of British Columbia (1995), MBA from McGill University (1987) in Canada, and B.Eng from Renmin University of China (1985).

 

 

He is a Professor and Associate Dean in the School of Business, Renmin University of China. He has been in this position since 2004. Prior to his current appointment, he was a tenured faculty at the University of Waterloo in Canada (1995-2002), visiting fellow at City University of Hong Kong (2002-2004). He was also a Visiting Scientist at the IBM Toronto Lab (User-Centred Design Lab, 2000-2001).

 

 

He is an expert in management information systems (MIS), one of the most influential scholars in the field in China, and also one of the most active ones in community services in China, e.g., participation in organizing important international conferences, editorial work and publications in leading journals. He is also widely recognized as the leading advocate and leader in advancing case-based research in China, having served as the program chair in the past seven years’ annual Forum (conference) on Case-Based and Qualitative Research on Business Administration in China.

 

 

He is a “Yangtze River Scholar” Distinguished Professor designated in 2011 by the Ministry of Education of P.R. China, and a recipient of the prestigious National Outstanding Young Scientist Award of Science Foundation in 2008.
